Evelyn Chang made her London debut in 2004 at London 's South Bank Centre, establishing her position as a rising young talent on the international musical scene. Her subsequent performances have brought her critical acclaim and challenging roles working with outstanding musicians and composers.

Originally from Taiwan , encouraged by her teacher Mary Kuok Chiu Tse, she moved to London at the age of thirteen and began to explore her long musical journey in the west. Having studied at the Purcell School of Music with Andrej Esterhazy, she later joined the Royal College of Music studying under the late professor Irina Zaritskaya and Andrew Ball.

Evelyn believes that music has no boundaries. She expresses her music from the standard classical repertoire, through contemporary music to improvisations, from the west to the east. She continuously seeks for new music and new ways to express herself as an artist.

The artists she has collaborated with include Cristo Barrios, Douglas Boyd, David Cohen, Stephen Bell, Paul Dunmall, Brian Irvine Ensemble, Roman Mints, Maxim Rysanov, Alexander Sitkovestky, Robert Ziegler, the ASCH sting trio and many others. She also performs in many of the best UK venues such as the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, St. John's Smith Square and St. James Piccadilly.

Being also a great champion of contemporary music, Evelyn has worked with numerous composers, namely Ed Bennet, Diana Burrell, John Casken, Elena Firsova, Brian Irvine, Elena Langer, Simon Mawhinny, Fumiko Myachi, Dobrinka Tabakova and others. Many works are especially written for her. She is also an active member of the Decibel ensemble ¡V led by composer Ed Bennet, an experimental group which performs music by contemporary composers, combining electro-acoustic and visual effects with traditional music. The album received critical acclaim and was picked as editor's choice in Gramophone, BBC Music and Musik magazines. She also made two improvisation CD recordings with jazz saxophonist Paul Dunmall on FMR Records which are due to be released this year. Future plans include a recital album with clarinetist Cristo Barrios on RAL Records and a solo album.
